THE BRIEF

What BnB Kenya is

BnB Kenya is TwinFusion's own listings platform for furnished short-stay accommodation across all 47 Kenyan counties, from BnBs and apartments to cottages, beach houses and villas. Guests contact the host directly by phone or WhatsApp instead of booking and paying online.

We built the back end and staff admin. It holds listings, hosts, counties and amenities, puts each new listing through review before it goes live, and records every view, call and WhatsApp tap a listing earns, so hosts can see the platform working before they pay. Trial-then-subscription billing, featured placement and county-level reporting run from the same console.

SYSTEM MANUAL

How BnB Kenya works

Overview

BnB Kenya is a directory of furnished stays covering all 47 Kenyan counties, built on a contact-direct model: each listing exists so a guest can call or WhatsApp the owner. Hosts pay for placement after a trial, and the platform records every view, call and WhatsApp tap so they can see results first. TwinFusion built the back end and staff admin, plus a data service for the public side.

Who uses it

  • Administrators (owner and staff) — review listings, verify and manage hosts, follow billing and read the reports.
  • Hosts — property owners whose listings carry their phone and WhatsApp numbers; they are set up and verified by the admin team.
  • Guests — contact hosts directly by phone or WhatsApp instead of booking online.

Main modules

  • Overview — the last 30 days, listings waiting for review and the best performers.
  • Listings — the review queue, with each listing moving from draft to pending to live, or rejected with a reason.
  • Hosts — host records, verification and suspension.
  • Billing — trials ending, listings lapsing within 14 days, plans and recent payments.
  • Reporting — daily views, listings ranked by contacts made and a breakdown by county.

How it works

  1. Onboard a host — a host is created with a phone number and verified by an administrator; the verification is recorded in the audit trail.
  2. Add a listing — the listing is drafted with county, neighbourhood, category, nightly and monthly prices, bedrooms, bathrooms, guest numbers, amenities, photos and contact numbers, then submitted for review.
  3. Go live — once approved, a listing appears publicly while its trial or paid period is current; featured listings rank first, and a lapsed listing can be revived with its history intact.
  4. Track results — views, calls, WhatsApp taps, shares and map opens are recorded for each listing and rolled up nightly into daily figures.
  5. Bill — the billing screen highlights trials ending and listings about to lapse, and payments by M-Pesa, card, bank or other methods are recorded against a plan.
