What Cultural Heritage Centre, Arusha is
A four-site web network for the Cultural Heritage Centre in Arusha, Tanzania, one of the country's well-known cultural and art destinations. It is built for travellers and tour operators browsing the centre's shops and exhibitions.
We built an institutional hub and three shops on one WordPress network: The Market for handcrafts and artefacts, The Vault for tanzanite and fine jewellery, and Collectors for fine art and exhibitions. Each keeps its own look and catalogue. Shoppers can send their cart to the centre over WhatsApp, which also creates an order for staff to confirm, and the same content feeds the centre's mobile app.
On the phone, too
The centre's companion Android app draws its products, exhibitions and pages from this network, so the website and the app share one catalogue.
What we built
What we built
- A WordPress multisite network with one institutional hub and three WooCommerce shops, each with its own theme and product catalogue.
- The Market for handcrafts and artefacts, The Vault for tanzanite and fine jewellery, and Collectors for fine art with a managed exhibitions section.
- WhatsApp ordering: shoppers send their cart to the centre over WhatsApp, and a matching order is created in the back office for staff to confirm.
- A single staff sign-in across all four sites.
- Image-led pages and a clear visitor journey that works for a tour operator planning a group and for a traveller browsing on a phone.
- A data feed that supplies products, exhibitions and pages to the centre's companion mobile app.
